Signs You Have a Moth Infestation

Moth infestations are easy to miss early on because larvae feed in dark, undisturbed spots. By the time damage is visible, eggs and pupae are often already spread across multiple locations. Knowing what to look for helps you catch the problem before it gets expensive.

Clothes moth warning signs:

• Irregular holes in wool, cashmere, silk, or fur garments
• Silky webbing or small cocoons in closet corners or on fabric surfaces
• Cream-colored larvae on textiles or inside storage boxes
• Golden-tan adult moths that scurry away from light rather than flying toward it

Pantry moth warning signs:

• Small moths flying near the kitchen or around stored food
• Webbing or clumping inside grain, flour, or cereal packaging
• Larvae or shed skins visible inside food containers
